Regional Convener Conference
As a proud grantee of the TEA Tri-Agency Regional Convener Initiative, the Gulf Coast Workforce Board (GCWB) continues to strengthen its commitment to improving local educational outcomes. Our focus is on delivering immersive, work-based learning experiences in high-demand sectors such as healthcare, construction, and education—bridging classroom learning with real-world application to better prepare students for future careers.
Through this grant, GCWB is building stronger connections between education and industry, enhancing the employability and career readiness of students across the region. Looking ahead, we aim to expand our reach by growing both student participation and industry partnerships to amplify impact across the Gulf Coast.
On January 29, 2025, GCWB hosted a highly successful Regional Convener Conference, welcoming over 350 students from local school districts and homeschool programs. The event featured engaging breakout sessions on self-awareness and professional readiness, a keynote address by Andre’a Streeter of Microsoft, and an in-depth presentation on regional economic trends.
The conference also spotlighted the Hire Gulf Coast Youth initiative and included a dynamic Employer Panel covering careers in healthcare, construction, IT, and manufacturing. Attendees had the opportunity to connect with local employers, community leaders, and workforce experts—gaining valuable insights and forging meaningful connections to support their career development.
